LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Stamas has announced that he will join friends and family of U.S. Navy Corpsman Aaron Ullom at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 9 to officially dedicating a memorial bridge in Ullom’s honor.

What:
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially unveil one of the signs declaring the bridge on US-10 over Eastman Avenue as the “Corpsman Aaron D. Ullom Memorial Bridge.” The other sign will be erected on eastbound US-10 before the ceremony so that area residents and Ullom’s friends, family and military comrades can observe it on their way to the dedication.

Briefing:
The governor signed Senate Bill 513, now Public Act 21 of 2016, to designate the bridge on US-10 over Eastman Avenue as the “Corpsman Aaron D. Ullom Memorial Bridge” in recognition of Ullom, who was killed in Afghanistan in July 2011 while saving the life of a wounded marine.
Red, white and blue balloons will be released in Ullom’s memory after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
