LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Stamas and Rep. Peter Pettalia, R-Presque Isle, welcomed Miss Michigan 2015 Emily Kieliszewski to the Capitol on Tuesday.
“It is a distinct personal privilege to honor Emily Kieliszewski upon her selection as Miss Michigan 2015,” said Stamas, R-Midland. “This achievement was the result of her outstanding character, maturity and dedication to advancing our community and state.”
Kieliszewski grew up in Alpena County and is the daughter of Alpena County Sheriff Steve Kieliszewski and Erin Kieliszewski, a teacher. A 2009 graduate of Alpena High School, she went on to graduate from Michigan State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Kieliszewski is now pursuing law school, where she hopes to focus on family and adoptive law.
“Emily’s family-centric background fueled a passion that did not fade as she competed for the Miss Michigan 2015 title on the platform of ‘Adopting America’s Children,’” Stamas said. “She has helped develop legislation and raise awareness on the adoption of children. Her leadership and community involvement have made her state and community proud, and I am honored to pay tribute to her accomplishments, her character and her drive to make Michigan a better place.”
Stamas presented Kieliszewski with a special tribute during Senate session. The tribute was signed by Stamas, Pettalia and Gov. Rick Snyder.
