Senator also to serve as Assistant Majority Floor Leader
LANSING—Sen. Jim Stamas announced on Friday that he will chair the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) and a key budget subcommittee, and he will serve as part of the Senate leadership.
“It’s about making Michigan competitive for new jobs. As chair of JCAR, I will remain focused on cutting burdensome red tape,” said Stamas, R-Midland. “I am proud of the fact that during the last four years, we eliminated more than 1,200 unnecessary rules and regulations in Michigan. By getting government out of the way, we can empower entrepreneurs and families to succeed and achieve the dream of building a business.”
Stamas was elected to serve as assistant majority floor leader for the 98th Legislature.
He will also serve on the important Senate Appropriations Committee, where he will chair the General Government subcommittee, whose budget includes funding for the attorney general’s office and the Legislature.
The senator’s other committee duties include serving as vice chair of the Senate Michigan Competitiveness Committee; as a member of the committees on Natural Resources, Health Policy, and Economic Development and International Investment; and on the Appropriations subcommittee for the Agriculture and Rural Development department.
“I look forward to serving the hard-working people of the 36th District,” Stamas said. “In my leadership role as assistant majority floor leader and on these important committees, I will be an active voice who will make sure they are well represented in their state Capitol.”
