LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Stamas has announced that he will lead a two-day tour of Heritage Route 23 beginning on Thursday with numerous state officials in an effort to help raise the visibility of northeastern lower Michigan and engage the community with state officials about issues critical to the region.

Lee Chatfield, R-Levering; Secretary of State Ruth Johnson; Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Director Jamie Clover Adams; Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon; Acting Vice President of Travel Michigan Dave Lorenz; and officials from Michigan Department of Transportation, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Northeast Michigan Council of Governments.
A two-day tour beginning TOMORROW of the U.S. 23 Heritage Route from Standish to Mackinaw City to highlight the region.
Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17.
The tour begins at the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino at 2690 Worth Road in Standish and travels 200 miles along the Lake Huron shore up to JoAnn’s Fudge Shop at 303 East Central Ave. in Mackinaw City.

Beginning in Standish, the legislative tour will travel up the scenic shoreline of Lake Huron to Mackinaw City, with stops along the way including: touring the Wurtsmith Airport and Kalitta Air in Oscoda, visiting a local branch office with Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, and highlighting numerous state parks and local businesses.
