LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Stamas and Rep. Sue Allor will join friends and family of the late Rep. Peter Pettalia at a ceremony on Friday to dedicate a memorial highway named in Pettalia’s honor.

A ceremony to dedicate one of the signs declaring the portion of U.S. 23 in Presque Isle County between Maple Drive and Misiak Highway as the “Peter A. Pettalia Memorial Highway.”

Following the ceremony, there will be a reception at The Hideaway, 10085 U.S. 23 in Alpena.
In June, the governor signed Senate Bill 622, now Public Act 215 of 2018, designating the portion of U.S. 23 in Presque Isle County between Maple Drive and Misiak Highway as the “Peter A. Pettalia Memorial Highway.”
Pettalia served three terms in the Michigan House from 2011 until his death in September 2016 in an accident on his way down to the Capitol for session.
