LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Jim Stamas and Rep. Jason Wentworth on Monday will help present a check to the city of Standish to help provide families and businesses relief from significant water rate increases resulting from the 2009 closure of Standish Maximum Correctional Facility.

Stamas and Wentworth have been working with local officials to find a way to help offset the cost to the city residents of the 2009 prison closure.
As part of that effort, Stamas was able to secure $1.7 million in the current state budget to help Standish with water and sewer system improvements.
